My name is Alex Yazbek, and I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am 38 years old, and am the son of Ivor Yazbek, who in turn is the son of the late Alec "Elias" Yazbek, whose father was Tamir Yazbek, who immigrated to South Africa in 1889 from Haddath, Beiruit.

I am related to the late Yousof Yazbek who was the Lebanese representative to UNESCO and the first president of the Communist party of Lebanon. His son is Maroun Yazbek, who is Professor of Law at the Lebanese Univ. of Beiruit. My family has been in the Haddath for hundreds of years.
